Ripon basketball collects third straight win

The Ripon High Indians tried to make it three straight wins Tuesday.

Gregori spoiled that by jumping out to an 11-2 lead early on against the visiting Indians, cruising to an 83-61 non-league victory.

Ripon (2-7) trailed 15-10 after one quarter only to witness the Jaguars (4-8) pour in 30 points to close out the half.

The Indians were down at that point, 45-25.

Laguna Creek 58, Manteca 51

Coming off back-to-back games, the Buffaloes (6-5) fell to the Cardinal of the tough Metropolitan League.

"They play in a tough and physical league," said Manteca coach Jason Hitt of Laguna Creek (7-4).

Down 29-22 at the half, the Buffaloes endured a tough third quarter. That's when the Cardinal went on a 23-10 run to take a 52-32 lead.

Manteca's comeback in the fourth fell short.

Senior guard Justice Chase was the Buffaloes' top scorer with 20 points. Ryan Inderbitzen and Trey Moreland chipped in with 11 and nine, respectively.

Dante Wells of Laguna Creek led all scorers with 25 points.

Manteca will face Vanden of Fairfield in Monday's opener of the Modesto Christian Holiday Hoop Classic.

 

JV boys basketball

Manteca 76, Laguna Creek 40

Bryson Davis was one of four players for the Buffaloes to score in double figures in the non-league clash at Laguna Creek.

He poured in 18 followed by Peyton Nieman, who netted 16. Both JJ Menor and Micah Crawford hit for 11.

Manteca will host a three-day JV tournament beginning on Monday.

 

Freshmen boys basketball

Manteca 73, Laguna Creek 34

Eligah Middleton had 14 while Jayden Scarvar and Eddie Anthony both hit for 13 in the win over the Cardinal.  The Buffaloes will also play in the three-day MHS freshmen tournament beginning on Monday.

 

Girls soccer

Sierra 6, Lathrop 0

The Timberwolves (8-3-1) posted the shutout victory over Lathrop (6-5-1) at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

Jocelin Roa added to her section-leading goal total by scoring four against the Spartans. That gives her 21 goals thus far in the season for 49 total points.

Alexus Rossi scored twice. Hailey Cruz helped out with a pair of assists and Zoie Willson also got an assist.

 

JV girls soccer

Sierra 6, Lathrop 2

Emma Dunham kicked off the scoring for the Timberwolves.  Alani Mullenix netted two goals while Angie Berber found the back of the net to give Sierra a 4-0 lead inside 10 minutes of the non-league contest.
