Ripon Christian rolls past Redskins

The Ripon Christian boys basketball squad picked up its fifth straight Southern League victory Friday during a 67-43 victory over winless Gustine.

Danny Vander Molen led the Knights (6-1 SL, 14-4 overall) with 16 points and six assists and tallied 14 in the second half. Travis Vander Molen added 11 to go with three steals.

The Knights led 27-19 at the half and outscored the Redskins by seven in the third to take a 44-29 lead. Ripon Christian, which received a double-double from Sean Broker with 13 points and 12 boards, closed on a 23-14 run. Austin Alger pitched in with 10. Gustine was led by J.D. Lapua’s 13 points.

The Knights will start the second half of their league schedule Tuesday at home against Waterford.

Ripon 75, Orestimba 41

The Indians improved to 3-3 in the Trans Valley League, 5-15 overall and were led by Cole Stevens’ 15 points -- all in the first half and included three 3s. Ripon led 47-18 at the break. Derek Hickman finished with 12 points and Michael Morris had nine on three 3-balls.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Kimball 60, Lathrop 26

The Spartans were led by Loreal Taylor’s 10 points and 11 rebounds. Lauren Collins finished with seven points and three assists, while Kimball was led by Sara Nunes’ 22 points.
