Ripon, Ripon Christian repeat as Section champions

Ripon and Ripon Christian successfully defended their Sac-Joaquin Section boys golf titles from three years ago.

Ripon repeats as Division V champion after scoring a 415 Monday at Merced Golf & Country Club.

Trent Vink and Chad Flory paced the Indians with a 77 and 79, respectively. Gage Anderson contributed an 83, while Jeremie Little and Vince Uecker each had an 88. Jacob Baird carded the throw-out score of 93.

It’s the sixth overall Section title for the Indians, who have one in Division III.

Ripon Christian, meanwhile, dominated in claiming its fifth Division V crown at La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs. The Knights finished with a 405, well ahead of second-place Sacramento Adventist’s 450.

Three Ripon Christian players placed in the top five. Camdan Indelicato led the way with a runner-up 76, Wyatt Hayes was third with a 78 and Cade Van Groningen fifth with an 82. Ethan Schenk and Trey Van Groningen chipped in an 84 and 85, respectively. Nick Te Velde had the throwaway score of 94.

Both Ripon and Ripon Christian will compete at the SJS Masters Tournament next Monday, May 16 at Elkhorn Golf Club in Stockton.

 

Division III

East Union’s Tony Agueda carded the best score among area golfers at Bing Maloney Golf Course.

He finished with an 84, and the Lancers totaled a 466.

Vista del Lago (363) and Golden Valley (414) qualified for the Masters tournament along with six individuals. No Manteca-area golfers are moving on.

Other scorers for East Union were Cooper Rossi (91), Nolan Mix (88), Jayden Lopez (96) and Zane Salgado (107).  Competing individually were Manteca’s Zenon Garay (98) and Connor DePrater (103), Sierra’s James Musquiz (114) and Weston Ranch’s John Delacruz (94).
