Ripon sinks Hughson with 7-run rally

RIPON – Frankie Jordangalau went 3 for 3 and helped lift Ripon to an 11-1 rout over visiting Hughson on Wednesday afternoon.

The visiting Huskies tied the game at one apiece in the top of the third, but Ripon pulled away in the bottom of the fourth by plating three more of its own.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Indians made the 10-run mercy rule effective after plating seven more to make up the final score.

Caleb Rogers got the start and tallied the victory. He gave up two hits, one earned run, three walks and tossed three strikeouts.

Claudio Santos (1 for 2, one run) recorded a two-run single in the fourth frame.

Ripon’s Nick Price (2 for 3) and Dante Machado (2 for 3) combined for three runs. Brandon Rodriguez and Josh Clark each registered RBIs.

Ripon will turn around and head to Hughson for its second of a two-game set on Friday at 4 p.m.

Ripon Christian cruised during Southern League play as Josh English picked up the win and helped the Knights improve to 8-0 in league, 12-6-1 overall.

Turlock Christian (0-8 SL, 1-11 overall) fell behind 9-0 after two innings. RC tacked on eight more in the third inning and seven more in the fourth.

RC senior Dominic Nelson went 4 for 4 with four runs scored and four RBIs. Patrick Kim was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a run. David Henderson was 2 for 2 for the first-place Knights.

English, Jon Vander Molen, Travis Vander Molen and Chris Saenz each had a hit as well.

RC will resume league play on Friday at home against Delhi at 3:45 p.m.
