In football, Ripon senior Tip Paini garnered another major award, this time as a defensive lineman. Ripon Christian’s Amos Cady and Lushen Sanders also received top honors as Outstanding Defensive Back and Outstanding Offensive Back, respectively.

Ripon’s flag football team showed improvement in its second season and has three all-league selections.

Girls volleyball

Recruited to Pacific as a setter, the Dorn shined as a six-rotation outside hitter for the Indians, who reached the SJS finals in all four of her varsity seasons.

She finished as one of the more prolific and efficient hitters in the state during her senior campaign with 544 kills and a .408 hitting percentage. In league play, Dorn doled out 195 kills (5.0 per set) and 40 aces, to go with 150 digs and 12 blocks.

The 6-1 standout went down swinging, setting a personal-best, single-match record with 30 kills in the SJS Division III final and then one-upping that three nights later with 34 in a NorCal Division II opener at St. Francis of Sacramento. Ripon lost both matches to the parochial powers.

Despite the tough finish, the Indians (12-0, 28-6 overall) were impressively dominant in the TVL, which has six teams in the SJS top-25 MaxPreps rankings. League runner-up Ripon Christian (8-4, 24-12) reached the NorCal Division IV final, and fifth-place Hilmar (5-7, 27-16) claimed the Division V state title.

Ripon and Ripon Christian each have three All-TVL first-team selections.

Junior setter Alayna Sprinkle (389 assists, 80 digs, 32 aces), junior opposite Jorie Eskes (115 kills, 19 blocks, 65 digs) and sophomore outside hitter Ashlyn Malone (155 kills, 23 aces, 71 digs) got the nod for Ripon.

Representing the Knights are senior setter Alanna Blanco (374 assists, 112 digs, 35 aces), senior middle blocker Brynn Bohn (104 kills, 20 blocks, 24 aces) and senior middle Haley Kootstra (62 kills, 22 blocks).

Ripon’s Kennedy Everhart and Olivia Newman earned honorable mention, as did Ripon Christian’s Paige Van Hofwegen.

Sonora middle Dixie Nessl got Most Outstanding Player honors, and Orestimba’s Carlee Felber is Coach of the Year.
