Freshman Taylor Werner was Ripon High’s top performer in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV-V Preliminaries Tuesday at CSU Stanislaus.
She won her heat in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.93 seconds and is seeded third overall for Thursday’s final race. She’s also fourth in the 300 hurdles (48.45) and is part of the 4x400 relay that qualified with the fifth best time at 4 minutes, 14.60 seconds.
The top eight finishers in track events move on, and the best five — along with any competitors who match or surpass at-large marks — qualify for next week’s SJS Masters Trials.
Jose Munoz was Ripon’s only other competitor to advance. He took second in his 400-meter heat in 51.32 seconds and is sixth heading into the final. He also led the mile relay to an eighth-place finish (3:34).
Also running Thursday is distance standout Ellie Waters, who competes in the 1,600 and 3,200. Victoria White (discus throw), Cole Anderson (pole vault), Brent White (triple jump) and Andrew Wood (triple jump) are entrants for field events. No Ripon athlete qualified to Masters in field events that took place Tuesday.
