Chad Flory continues to impress with low numbers.

On Thursday, the Ripon senior shot 6-under 56 at Jack Tone Golf Course, wrapping up regular-season play with a sixth Trans-Valley League tournament win in as many tries. It’s the third time in league that the reigning MVP has scored 6-under par.

The Indians as a team are also 6 for 6, notching the lowest score with a 321. Runner-up Hughson had a 394 with Hilmar (405), Livingston (405) and Escalon (428) following suit.

Most of the top individuals are from Ripon. Richie Hughes came in second with a 65, while Ty Herrin and Jeremie Little tied for third with 66s. Vince Uecker finished sixth overall with a 68. Mateo Naranjo of Livingston was fifth with a 67.

The TVL Championships is next Monday at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton starting at 10 a.m.

 

BASEBALL

Ripon Christian 7, Orestimba 2

A three-way tie at the top of the Southern Athletic League standings was broken up Wednesday in Newman, as the Knights (10-1, 16-5 overall) rode away with the win thanks to a five-run seventh inning powered by Micah English’s three-RBI homer.

Eli Terpsma earlier tied the game at 2-2 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth.

English was also the winning pitcher after throwing two perfect innings in relief, striking out three. Starter Luke Crivello pitched the first five frames, scattering six hits while striking out four.

Grant Sonke (two runs, steal) and Logan Sauer (run) were both 2 for 3.

Orestimba (9-2, 11-5) visits RC today.

 

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Ripon 3, Hilmar 0

The Indians (4-2, 15-8 overall) wrapped up the TVL season with the 25-15, 25-15, 25-22 road win.

Colten Morino accumulated eight kills, 11 service points and five aces. Hunter Adams hammered a team-high 14 kills.

Marquell Marshall added five kills and 14 digs. Jalen Wilson served 10 points, five of them aces. Anthony Gomez spearheaded the offense with 38 assists.

 

SOFTBALL

Grace Davis 10, Lathrop 9 (8)

Visiting Lathrop (2-9 Western Athletic Conference, 3-9 overall) dropped a heartbreaker in Modesto after tying the score in the top of the seventh inning.

Ariana Fuentes pitched seven innings, firing 10 strikeouts while allowing five hits. She was also 4 for 5 on offense with an RBI. Maci De Costa went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs Jaylyn Marquez hit a double, walked twice and drove in a run.

 

JV boys volleyball

Ripon 2, Hilmar 0

Ripon rolled to a 25-18, 25-12 sweep.

Alex Alvarellos and Trent Olmo led the attack with six and five kills, respectively. Max Ferral handed out 18 assists, while Armando Ayon served 11 points and three aces.
