East Union’s girls basketball team hit five of its nine made 3-pointers during a game-changing second-quarter barrage en route to a 56-27 drubbing of visiting Oakdale on Monday.
The Lancers (4-0 Valley Oak League, 16-4 overall) dominated the second quarter 25-6 and led comfortably after three, 48-17.
Juliana Gaspar knocked down three 3s for all of her nine points. Zyondupree Beasley amassed 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Ava Barrera had 10 points and three steals. Shebra Rezaye turned in six points, five rebounds and three assists.
Freshman Keira Kirkpatrick was the leading scorer for Oakdale (1-3, 11-9) with 15 points. Only four Mustangs players contributed to the scoring.
The win for East Union sets up a first-place battle with Central Catholic, which visits Dalben Center on Wednesday.

Sierra 3, Patterson 1
Leslie Reyes accounted for two goals, and she assisted Zoe Sutton’s for the VOL road win.
Natalie Ruvalcaba and Sutton assisted Reyes.
The Timberwolves (2-2 VOL, 14-4 overall) attempted 16 shots on goal against just three for Patterson (0-4-1, 3-8-2). Freshman keeper Ava Bonilla came up with two saves.

Lilyan Frye scored eight of her team-high 10 points in the first quarter to help set the tone for the Lancers.
Camille Christensen contributed nine points, and Andrea Nibler registered all eight of her points in the fourth quarter.

Scarlett Robertson scored twice, and Analia Carrillo added a goal and an assist for the Timberwolves.
Melanie Huerta-Peña pitched in a goal, and Isabela Cruz had an assist.
