SOFTBALL

Beyer 25, Lathrop 0

The visiting Patriots (7-3 WAC, 9-8-2 overall) took a combined no-hitter into the fifth inning but had it broken up by a single from Lylliana Avila.

"Beyer is an aggressive, well-rounded team and we came out pretty flat defensively, which only made our battle more difficult,” Lathrop coach Stephanie Maestretti said. “They came out swinging at the first pitch and immediately put us to work. We made some mental errors that we haven't been making in our last few games, and just couldn't get any momentum in our favor."
