Manteca bolted out to a 24-point lead and continued to surge from there on Friday, blowing out visiting Modesto 62-6 in non-league boys basketball action.
The Buffaloes (6-6) were well ahead 43-2 at halftime, and the game went to a running clock for the entire second half.
The wide margin allowed Manteca to give its deep bench players ample minutes.
William Brown and Estevan Vargas led the balanced effort with nine points each. Isaiah Bravo and Madden Melendez each turned in nine.
Modesto dropped to 0-12.
Manteca hosts Tracy next Monday starting 7:30 p.m.
Ripon 60, John Adams Academy 55
Gino Calderara amassed 22 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to send Ripon (3-6) to the consolation final of the Motherlode Madness tournament in Amador County. The Indians will face Hoopa Valley today at Amador High.
Calderara helped give them a 31-20 lead, scoring 13 of his teams 16 points in the second quarter. Sam Stewart finished with 12 points and contributed two 3s to Ripon’s hot start.
AJ Vanderwerff and Tip Paini chimed in with nine points apiece. Cooper Morino had six points and 10 rebounds.
Luciano paced three Adams Academy (5-4) players in double figures with 15 points.
GIRLS SOCCER
Ripon 2, Hilmar 2
The shorthanded Indians (1-0-1, 10-4-1 overall) were able to salvage a tie in the Trans Valley League match that could have title implications down the road.
Ripon was without two of its top scorers, Mia Hendryx and Danielle Rey, who were out with ankle injuries. Still, the Indians managed to take two leads in the first half, only for visiting Hilmar (1-0-1, 8-3-2) to answer both.
Alena Mallari netted the opener in the 14th minute with Madelyn McKiernan on the assist. Alexis Zamora scored in the 28th and was set up by Sofia Cabello. The Yellowjackets scored in the 20th and 38th minutes, the latter on a penalty kick.
In the second half, Ripon, which started the game with just one available substitute, lost defenders Taylor Paris and Clara Schoolland to injuries, leaving it with 10 players on the field for a spell. The Indians still had a big advantage on shot attempts, 17-6.
BOYS SOCCER
Ripon Christian 2, Sonora 1
Sophomore Collin Lecain scored the tying and go-ahead goals in the come-from-behind win for host Ripon Christian (2-2 TVL, 3-3-2 overall).
Carson Cho played a big part in the second-half winner, coming up with a steal deep in the Sonora third laying it off for Lecain. Talon Tameling assisted the first-half goal.

Malachi Mix spearheaded the Buffaloes’ balanced scoring effort with 10 points.
Brennan McMichael and Kendahl Sweet-Mallory added nine and eight, respectively.

Bryant Lewis and Wyatt Noonkester pumped in 11 points apiece for Manteca. Blake Scalise contributed eight.
