ROUNDUP: Ripon clamps down against RC in girls basketball win

 Ripon’s girls basketball held host Ripon Christian to three points in the first and fourth quarters on Thursday, winning the defensive battle, 33-27.

Anandjap Dhami tallied 10 points, nine rebounds for the victorious Indians, who improved to 2-1 in the Trans Valley League and 9-10 overall. Itzel Reynoso racked up nine points, seven rebounds and five steals.

Bella Arganbright scored eight points for Ripon Christian (1-2, 6-9).


Lathrop 66, Livingston 28

Twelve of 13 players scored for Lathrop (5-0, 19-0) in the Western Athletic Conference blowout at Livingston (1-4, 4-11). Every player had at least one rebound. The Spartans amassed 16 steals and grabbed 20 rebounds on offense.

Breanna Wiseman racked up 10 points, eight rebounds and two steals in limited time. Belinda Renteria and Jaleiyah Ray added nine and eight points, respectively, in the balanced effort.

Lathrop raced out a 21-9 first-quarter lead and led 54-18 going into the fourth.

Lathrop 4, Beyer 0

After a scoreless first half at Bennie Gatto Field, the Spartans (5-1-1, 13-3-2) overall broke through in the second half thanks to a penalty kick from Andres Hurtado-Garcia.

Alan Hernandez put away two goals, and Carlos Santos had one. Julian Ceja and Eric Lucatero split time in goal and combined for the shutout.

Lathrop 36, Livingston 33

Early foul trouble to three starters and turnovers kept the host Wolves within reach.

Zoha Ali paced Lathrop with 15 points, and Faith Allen added eight.

Lathrop 2, Beyer 1

Victor Salvador accounted for both of Lathrop’s goals, with Santiago Martinez providing an assist.

Goalkeeper Guillermo Mateo helped preserve the lead with a penalty-kick save.
