Andrew Shaw made five 3s and finished with 22 points, as Ripon’s boys basketball team set a season-high in scoring with a 77-57 Trans Valley League victory at Orestimba on Tuesday.
The Indians (2-6 TVL, 7-17 overall) snapped a five-game skid and completed a season-sweep of the Warriors (0-8, 6-18), who were paced by Emiliano Medina’s 27 points.
Ripon charged out to a 26-5 first-quarter lead and coasted the rest of the way.
Jude Viss added 19 points to the onslaught, and Gavin Decena pitched in 11. Cooper Morino added eight points and seven rebounds. Tip Paini (six points, nine rebounds) and AJ Vanderwerf (six points, eight rebounds) also contributed in the post.
Medina knocked down eight 3s for Orestimba, four coming in the fourth period. Rudy Corona had 12 points.
Ripon heads to first-place Ripon Christian on Thursday.
River Islands 74, Turlock Christian 37
The Riptide (6-0, 14-10 overall) dominated the road game for their ninth straight win and clinched at least a share of the Central California Athletic Alliance title. They’ll go for the outright crown Thursday at home against Millennium.
Darius Radoc Factoran spearheaded the balanced scoring effort with 19 points. Jermuel Dizon and Dylan Peter turned in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Charles Mapanao made three 3s for his nine points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lathrop 58, Johansen 24
In Modesto, the Spartans (11-0, 25-0 overall) showed no signs of slowing down in their second Western Athletic Conference tilt in as many nights.
They limited Johansen (4-7, 11-14) to five or less points in three quarters, while totaling 26 steals.
Shakara Porter led Lathrop with 17 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists Jaleiyah Ray added 13 points, and Breanna Wiseman amassed 12 points, four rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Aisha Wiseman chipped in four points, five steals and three assists.
Ripon 36, Orestimba 21
Lauren Peters produced 10 points and eight rebounds for the Indians (4-3 TVL, 11-12 overall), who led by double digits for most of the game.
Ixtel Reynoso contributed with seven points, and Anandjap Dhami pulled down eight rebounds to go with three points.
Orestimba (2-5, 7-16) was headed by Laylahni Garcia’s 11 points.

Lathrop 6, Livingston 0
Andres Hurtado-Garcia netted three goals and an assist at Bennie Gatto Field, as the WAC-leading Spartans (9-2-1, 17-4-2 overall) bounced back from a tough loss to second-place Johansen.
Alan Hernandez contributed two goals and two assists. Justin Silva scored the first goal of the game. Klever Hernandez and Omar Rodriguez each had an assist.
Lathrop continues the quest for its first conference title on Thursday against visiting Central Valley.

Santiago Ceja and Victor Salvador put away two goals apiece.
Dante Alfaro dished out three assists, and Angel Avila had one.

The Spartans dominated with defense, coming up with a shutout in the third quarter.
Zoha Ali led them with 13 points, seven steals and two assists. Sarah Garcia tallied 11 points and five steals. Ishaan Singh pitched in with 10 points and four boards.

Lathrop 57, Johansen 15
Ryleigh Race netted 17 points, eight rebounds and seven steals for Lathrop.
Ariyana Miller added 16 points and eight steals. Elsa Johnson grabbed nine rebounds.
