Ripon’s girls basketball team took care of winless Tokay 48-26 on the road Monday, getting 10 points each from Scarlett Ponce and Savannah Richardson.

A 15-4 second quarter broke it open for the Indians (4-3), as they held Tokay to single-digit scoring in three quarters.

Anandjap Dhami contributed nine points and nine rebounds. Lauren Peters scored all eight of her points in the first half, chipping in five rebounds.

Asha Virk and Kaiyanna Landry scored nine points apiece for the Tigers (0-5).

Ponderosa 46, East Union 42

Rowan Thomas poured in 12 of her team’s 15 points in the fourth quarter, as Ponderosa (4-4) escaped Dalben Center with the hard-earned win. The senior finished with a game-high 21 points.

Shebra Rezaye led East Union with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Ava Barrera added 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Zyon Dupree Beasley pitched in eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

GIRLS SOCCER

Gregori 2, Manteca 0

The host Buffaloes (3-1) lost the battle of unbeatens, as Gregori (6-0-1) came away with two second-half goals. The Jaguars locked up the win in the final minute on a corner kick.

“The score was not really reflective of what a great game it was,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “It was pretty much back-and-forth the entire time, and we actually got better as it went on.

“It was high-level soccer tonight and fun to watch. Obviously disappointed not getting the win, but pretty happy with how well we performed.”

Manteca outshot the Jaguars, 10-8.
