Sierra’s girls swim team completed a second consecutive undefeated run to the Valley Oak League championship on Thursday, beating Mountain House on the road, 101-54.
Mountain House won the boys competition, 117-25.
Phoebe Burke and Bianca Fraser were among the Sierra girls’ top contributors with multiple wins in individual events. Fraser won the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 6.68 seconds and the 200 individual medley in 2:29.79. Burke sprinted to first place in the 50 freestyle in 27.28 seconds and the 100 free in 1:01.77.
Charlene Trinh claimed the 200 free in 2:29.07. Elianah Zhou (1:10.89) held off teammate Abby Fraser (1:12.67) to prevail in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.67.
The Timberwolves also won the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Travis Moore was the lone first-place finisher for the boys, as he won the 500 free in 5:57.87.
Sierra competes in the Clovis West Invitational today and Saturday.
BOYS TRACK
Sierra 55, East Union 27
The VOL dual meet at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium ended early following several weather delays.
Host Sierra improved to 4-0
Christian Gonzalez paced the Timberwolves’ in the distance events, as he led 1-2-3 finishes in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs.
Blama Kamara clocked a personal best 49.99-second time while winning the 400. B.J. Cutar spearheaded Sierra’s 1-2-3 finish in the triple jump. Mantoj Grewal and Jayden Everett were part of a three-way draw in the high jump.
JP Abrew was East Union’s top performer with wins in the 100, long jump and 4x100. Mario Quezada won the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Anthony Otero was part of the first-place logjam in the high jump.
GIRLS TRACK
Sierra 78, East Union 21
Mya Everett aided the Timberwolves (4-0) with wins in the long jump and triple jump. She set a personal record in the long jump at 16 feet, 7 inches.
Khamylle Bollengier (400), Anna Dittman (800), Tyleah Badea (1,600), Mackenzie Feri (100 hurdles) and Shaine Calimlim (300 hurdles) each had one first-place finish. Sierra also won the 4x100 and 4x800.
East Union’s Marley Arrizano blazed to a personal-best 12.65 in winning the 100. Kadence Rossi (shot put) and Rebecca Bianco (pole vault) each won an event.
SOFTBALL
Central Catholic 9, East Union 7
In Modesto, the upset-minded Lancers (2-6, 11-10 overall) gave the top squad in the VOL all it could handle.
Central Catholic (8-0, 15-7) trailed 7-4 to start the bottom of the fourth inning when it jumped ahead for good with a four-run barrage.
Lily Pickering pitched six innings for East Union and registered eight strikeouts. She was also the Lancers’ top hitter, going 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Micahela Tarr was 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Caliyah Lopez (double, run) and Isabelle Reyes (run, RBI) both went 2 for 4.
Cereiah Fitzhugh went 4 for 4 with a solo homer and three runs for the Raiders. Fellow freshman Brea Hart drove in four runs.
