Lathrop’s boys tennis team opened Western Athletic Conference play on Monday with a 7-2 win over visiting Pacheco.
Agam Singh and Vincent Jiang helped set the tone from the top of the Spartans’ ladder. Singh swept Jayden Caballaro 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Jiang made quick work of 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 match. No. 3 Kyle Espiritu downed Nathaniel Valdez, 6-0, 6-2. Matthew Rodriguez claimed the No. 5 match for Lathrop, holding off Armando Marquez, 6-3, 6-4.
Pacheco tallied hard-earned wins at Nos. 4 and 6 singles, with Brenton Siemiller defeating Cameron Chan 6-4, 6-4, and Joseph Cruz outlasting Nico Campos, 5-7, 6-3, 5-7.
Lathrop’s Rushil Kadiyala and Alton Torres O’Callaghan coasted to a 6-1, 6-2 victory from the No. 1 doubles spot against David Torres and Josh Barley. The No. 2 tandem of Ishann Bal and Jin Ibarra came back to knock off Aaron Huerta and Dakota McCord, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4. Manmeet Singh and Harman Singh won No. 3 doubles 6-4, 6-4 over Leo Caloca and Jhon Mejia.

Yellowjacket Invitational
Ripon and Ripon Christian finished 1-2, respectively, at Turlock Golf & Country Club.
Ripon finished with a four-man score of 304, while the Knights finished with a 312. Gregori rounded out the top three with a 316.
A sophomore trio led by Andrew Bogetti anchored the Indians. Andrew Bogetti paced them with an even 72, Cru Sullivan finished 1-over par, Alan Bunchien carded a 79 and Richie Hughes an 80.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Manteca 3, St. Mary’s 0
Jesus Gomez racked up 15 kills, while Rob Hevener pitched in with 10 in the Buffaloes’ 25-21, 25-18, 26-24 home win.
Freshman setter Chandler Harris led the attack with 28 assists. Drew Woodruff and Logan Romriell contributed strong play from the back row for Manteca (5-2).
El Capitan 3, East Union 1
In Merced, the Lancers (4-4) battled tough against undefeated El Capitan (6-0) before falling, 21-25, 17-25, 25-18, 22-25.
Setter Isaac Serrato finished with 32 assists, eight service points and two aces. Gabe Estabillo hammered 19 kills to go with eight points and two aces.
Jacob Padilla registered 10 kills, 10 points, two aces and two blocks. Ben Munoz added four digs and two assist.
JV boys volleyball
Manteca 2, St. Mary’s 0
Azan A’Anna amassed five kills, six digs and three aces in Manteca’s 25-15, 25-21 win.
El Capitan 2, East Union 0
East Union lost in two competitive sets, 20-25, 23-25.
Bryson Villaverde led the Lancers with four kills and three blocks. Marco Chandinda chipped in with three kills, four blocks and seven service points.
James Grove was in on 11 service points. Jake McMahon added seven points and three kills. Elijah Galvan picked up five digs.
