Taylor Snaer tallied three first-place finishes Friday and led East Union’s girls team to a second-place finish in Sierra’s Timberwolf Invitational at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.
Snaer was first in the 200-meter dash (24.34 seconds), the 400 (56.89) and was on the winning 4x400 relay team with Linda Medrano, April Duarte and Jarely Ortiz, (4:19.84).
“It was good getting out here for the first time,” Snaer said. “It felt good opening up with some good times.”
Duarte was first in the 800 (2:35.46) and third in the 1,600 (6:00.04) and 3,200 (12:34.00) and Medrano was second to Duarte in the 800 (2:35.96) and second in the 1600 (59.62).
“I go back and forth with her (Medrano) all the time,” Duarte said. “This felt nice today.”
Ripon finished third and Annie Wild brought home gold medals in the 1,600 (5:40.49) and 3200 and teammate Kacie Johnson won the shot put (30 feet, 11 inches). Finshing second for the Indians was the 4x100 relay second (Rylee Agbayani-Duenas, Olivia Maragos, Emily Paxton, Savanah Ponce, 51.77) and Jade Thomas in the pole vault, (8-0) and Clara Schooland was third in the 400 (1:03.26).
“The double win was awesome,” Wild said. “I am super proud that I pushed to my full capability, and I am ecstatic that I pulled this off.
Manteca’s Rylan Steckler won the pole vault (8-6).
“My practices have been really good and really clean,” Steckler said. “And it felt really good.”
Teammate Shylea Hollins took first in the discus (104-11) and Kahlina Hisatomi finished third in the shot put (30-1)
“I didn’t think I was going to do all that great,” Hollis said. “Because I normally don’t do that good at this meet.
“I did way better than I thought I was going to do.”
For Sierra, Abigail Chapman was second in the long jump (15-7 ½) and third in the 300 hurdles (49.11), and Grace Langenfeld was second in the shot put (30-2) and third in the discus (86-10).
Manteca won the boys division and was paced by Roberto Facundo with a first-place finish in the 110 hurdles (16.28) and second-place finish in the 300 hurdles (43.34). Bryson Davis won the long jump (18-11), Julian Moncada was second in the 100 (10.97) and 200 (23.74), Josiah Ford finished second in the 110 hurdles (17.21), Alexander Chatham finished second in the discus (122-8), Jorge Perez was third in the 3200 (10:28.25) and Dario Rodriguez finished third in the 800 (2:04.96).
Sierra finished third with Christian Gonzales winning the 3200 (10:27.00) and finishing third in the 1600 (4:50.78). Shomari McKnight won the shot put (46-2) and Amitaj Kandola was third in the discus (117-08).
“My calves are a little sore,” Gonzales said after the 3,200. “I got blocked in at the end and had to pick it up. I was able to secure my spot with a kick.
“I saw an opening with 100 to go, I took it and it worked out.”
“I was a little down that I did not get a PR in the shot,” McKnight said. “It was a decent opener.”
Ripon’s Ricky Langefeld was second in the 1,600 (4:48.92) and on the second-place 4x400 relay team with Eric Guevara, Devin Fitzpatrick, and Brett Shaw (3:42.78). Fitzpatrick was second in the 800 (2:02.20), Marcus Madoski second in the high jump (6-0) and Shaw third in the 110 hurdles (17.59) and 300 hurdles (44.71).
Lathrop’s Westley Reyes was third in the high jump (6-0) and pole vault (12-0), Jeremiah Green
was third in the triple jump (40-4) and Jimari Dove was third in the 200 (22.80) and 400 (53.14).
East Union’s Cesar Salinas won the 400 (51.14), was on the second-place 4x100 relay with Matthew Potter, Anthony Morales and Kyndell Milton (44.96) and the third-place 4x400 relay with Morales, Alex Cuevas, Ian Rodriguez (3:44.48).
