ROUNDUP: Sierra routs Central Catholic in water polo

Sierra’s water polo team dominated the middle quarters en route to a one-sided 18-8 win over visiting Central Catholic in a Valley Oak League coed game Tuesday.

A one-goal game after the opening period, the Timberwolves used an eight-goal outburst in the second to gain separation and outscored the Raiders 5-1 in the third.

Mitch Van Zwalwuwenburg led Sierra with eight goals. Erfan Ballew and Sammy Perez contributed two apiece. Noah Sandoval, Moises Alvarado, Zach Walmer, Zane Walmer, Erik Johnson and Bayan Ballew each scored once.

Central Catholic was paced by Patrick O’Connor’s five goals.

 

BOYS WATER POLO

Beyer 15, Lathrop 7

Christian Buerster bagged three goals in Modesto, while Connor Giovannoni and Alan De La Garza Garcia each scored two. Goalie Gustavo Landa Betancourt recorded nine saves.

 

GIRLS WATER POLO

Beyer 14, Lathrop 8

Hannah Stewart accounted for five of Lathrop’s goals. Kalani Soriano added three. Angelina Michelucci came up with six saves in goal.

 

GIRLS GOLF

Ripon 203, Bret Harte 217

Gabbi Ilardi finished 3-over 39 to lead Ripon to a Valley Foothill League North Division win at Greenhorn Creek Golf Course in Angels Camps.

Teammate Katie Martin was the overall runner-up with a 46. Aaliyah Martinez added a 56, and Vivian Parsons had a 62. Carly Hickman led Bret Harte with a 47.
