SOCCER: Casas leads Manteca’s win over Holt Academy

Manteca’s boys soccer team kicked off the new season Monday with a win over a Sac-Joaquin Section Division V finalist.

With three different players scoring, the Buffaloes surged past visiting Holt Academy, 3-1.

Josue Casas contributed a goal and an assist. Seniors Mateo Esparza and Adriel Vega each scored once. Sophomore goalkeeper Roberto Vasquez tallied two saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Beyer 7, Ripon Christian 2

Visiting Beyer (2-0) scored the first two goals and staved off the Knights from there, adding three more in the final 10 minutes as RC committed numbers forward.

Lauren Mouw registered Ripon Christian’s first goal of the season, which kept the home team in the game while down 2-1 at halftime. Brooke Barnes opened her 2025 with a second-half goal, closing the Knights in, 4-2.

Ripon Christian hosts Amador on Dec. 3.
