The East Union boys and girls soccer teams got their first tune-up matches out of the way on Wednesday, as both faced West of Tracy two weeks ahead of their Valley Oak League openers.

The reigning California Interscholastic Federation Division III NorCal Regional champion boys squad prevailed 4-2, getting goal scorers from four different sources.

Chris Avila and Ivan Chavez struck in the 48th and 63rd minutes to give the Lancers the cushion they needed. They were assisted by Fabrizio Garrido and Christian Perez, respectively.

Gio Perez scored off a throw-in from Pearce Kemptner in the 23rd minute. Sammie Diaz opened scoring 7 minutes in and was set up by Anthony Sy.

Tallon Cervantez netted a pair of goals for East Union. She was assisted by Chloe Silva in the fifth minute and by Mackenzie Weber for the go-ahead in the 79th. Jenna Campbell added a goal of her own, working off a feed from Taylor McMahon.
