SWIMMING: Sierra girls dominate final VOL dual meet

 In Dave Breitenbucher’s last swim meet as Sierra head coach, the Timberwolves girls defeated Central Catholic 139-20 at the Manteca High pool on Friday and the Raiders did not field a boys team.

The best the Raiders girls could manage was two third places. Stephanie Thomason and Jennifer Graves each won two events for the Timberwolves with Thomason winning the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 20.92 seconds) and 500 freestyle (6:19.75). Graves won the 200 individual medley (2:20.38) and 100 breast stroke (1:15.96).

In addition to sweeping the relays, other winners for Sierra were Olivia Navarro (50 freestyle, 29.67), Bianca Fraser (100 butterfly, 1:06.76), Kiera Brink (100 freestyle, 58.60) and Abby Fraser (100 backstroke, 1:14.31).

The Timberwolves junior varsity girls won 106-22, winning all events. Central Catholic had one second-place finish. Abigail Garcia won the 100 freestyle (1:21.42) and 50 backstroke (42.71) and Sierra swept the relays. Hailey Danel (100 individual medley, 1:23.61), Maya Murillo (50 freestyle, 35.37), Sadie Herrera (50 butterfly, 36.01) and Sadie Herrera (50 free, 41.08) won their events as well.
