Sierra (5-8) could have come away with a big upset, as four of the matches, including Cardenas’, were settled in third sets. Cardenas upended Kim 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2. Sierra’s other point came from No. 2 doubles, as Mia Perez and Shelby Owensby prevailed, 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 10-7.
Annie Banks was competitive in a 4-6, 3-6 loss at No. 2 singles. Simran Thind was on short end of a 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 finish. Claire Banks was defeated 6-7 (5-7), 1-6 after nearly stealing the opening set from Sabrina Richardson.
