Nicole Vanni, Sierra High’s all-time leading goal scorer, finishes out her career at San Francisco State as a member of the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first team.

The 2009 Sierra grad led the Gators (4-5-4 CCAA, 6-8-3 overall) with five goals and five assists for 15 points. The biggest highlight of her senior campaign came on Oct. 14, when she scored with less than a minute remaining in San Francisco State’s 2-1 come-from-behind win at Chico State. Vanni ended up with 18 goals, 13 assists and 11 game-winning goals in her four-year career.

Fellow Gator and former-time rival Annicia Jones was also selected to the all-conference first team. Jones, a standout goalie, is a Sacramento native who thrice faced Vanni and the Sierra Timberwolves in the Sac-Joaquin Section finals as a player for West Campus.

Both were previously named to the All-CCAA team last year, with Jones earning second-team recognition and Vanni getting honorable mention. Vanni was also named to the All-West Region third team in 2011.

Vanni is a two-time Manteca Bulletin All-Area MVP, and her 53 goals in 2008 and 106 for her career still stand as Sierra records. After her senior year, she was named a high school All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
