The Manteca High girls tennis team hasn’t lost a Valley Oak League matchup in two full seasons.

On Thursday, the Buffaloes completed another perfect run to the VOL championship, knocking off Oakdale on the road in a competitive contest, 5-4.

“It’s hard to win back-to-back (VOL titles), especially losing your top seven players from last season,” Manteca head coach Mary Ann Tolbert said. “It’s a testament to this year’s team’s dedication and hard work.”

Manteca’s No. 3 singles player Elizabeth Tolbert finished her season undefeated after knocking off Oakdale’s Kalkidan Curtis 6-4, 6-4.

The Buffaloes’ No. 4 through 6 singles finished the season unbeaten as well. Julia Saling defeated Sabrina Richardson (7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 6-4), Fechi Nkwocha defeated Danielle Conway (6-1, 6-2) and Allison Rachel beat Alyssa Perigan (6-4, 6-2).

Manteca’s No. 1 singles player Liz Diaz lost to Christine Kim 7-6 (7-5), 6-7, 7-5 in a close match. Sealy McAdams (No. 2 singles) also lost in a three-set match against Christine Winders 6-4, 1-6, 3-6.

Manteca’s No. 1 doubles squad of Katie Inderbitzen and Ashlee Miller earned a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory for the Buffaloes’ final point. Manteca’s No. 2 doubles team (Kaitlyn Hoyer/Monique Sandhu) and No. 3 (Haylee Both/Megan Gonzalez) both lost in straight sets.
