The awards keep pouring in for Alex Laurel and Billy Sharmoug, the Manteca Bulletin’s 2013 All-Area Football Co-MVPs.

Both were named to the MaxPreps All-Northern California and All-Sac-Joaquin Section teams last week. Joining them on the SJS team is Ripon Christian’s Andrew Brown, the section’s new all-time touchdown leader.

Also, Ripon Christian volleyball standout Andie Shelton made the MaxPreps All-State Division V and Small Schools All-American teams.

Laurel was named to the NorCal and SJS first teams after racking up 1,876 rushing yards, 440 receiving and 49 total touchdowns. Sharmoug was selected as a second-team honoree on both lists. They led Manteca (13-2) to Valley Oak League and SJS Division III titles as well as an appearance in the CIF Division II State Regional Championship Bowl Game.

Brown made the All-SJS second team with his section-leading 2,781 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns. His 126 career touchdowns are fourth most all-time in California.

Shelton earned her latest honor, the All-State selection, on Sunday. The Pacific-bound setter is also an Under Armour Second Team All-American. She led Ripon Christian to two SJS titles and four undefeated runs in the Southern League and is a three-time Manteca Bulletin All-Area MVP.
