MODESTO (AP) — Tyler Jackson threw six scoreless innings, leading the Modesto Nuts over the San Jose Giants in a 3-1 win on Sunday.
Art Warren got Ronnie Jebavy to ground out with a runner on second to end the game for his fifth save of the season.
Jackson (1-2) picked up the win after he struck out seven and walked one while allowing two hits.
Modesto went up 2-0 in the fifth after Kyle Lewis hit an RBI double, bringing home Jordan Cowan.
After Modesto added a run in the seventh on a single by Lewis, the Giants cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Bryan Reynolds hit an RBI double, driving in John Polonius.
Mark Reyes (4-13) went six innings, allowing two runs and five hits to take the tough loss in the California League game. He also struck out two and walked three.
