Mieses leads Rancho Cucamonga

RANCHO CUCAMONGA. (AP) — Johan Mieses hit a two-run home run and had three hits, driving in three as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Modesto Nuts 6-3 on Monday.

Rancho Cucamonga started the scoring in the first inning when Mieses hit a two-run home run.

Trailing 5-1, the Nuts cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Kyle Lewis hit a solo home run.

The Quakes tacked on another run in the seventh when Mieses hit an RBI double, scoring Drew Jackson.

Daniel Corcino (2-0) got the win in relief while Modesto starter Nathan Bannister (6-6) took the loss in the California League game.

Andrew Istler retired the side in order for his 10th save of the season.

For the Nuts, Lewis homered and singled, scoring two runs.
