MODESTO (AP) — Trenton Toplikar allowed just five hits over 5 2/3 innings, leading the San Jose Giants over the Modesto Nuts in a 4-2 win on Tuesday.
Toplikar (1-1) picked up the win after he struck out three while allowing two runs.
San Jose started the scoring with a big second inning, when it put up four runs, including a two-run single by Manuel Geraldo.
Following the big inning, the Nuts cut into the deficit in the bottom of the frame when Luis Liberato scored on an error and Connor Kopach scored on a single.
Ian McKinney (1-2) went five innings, allowing four runs and two hits in the California League game. He also struck out five and walked two.

LANCASTER (AP) — Matt McLaughlin hit a walk-off single with one out in the ninth inning, as the Lancaster JetHawks defeated the Stockton Ports 7-6 on Tuesday.
Sean Bouchard scored the game-winning run after he reached base on a walk and advanced to third on a sacrifice fly by Casey Golden.
The single by McLaughlin capped an improbable comeback for the JetHawks, who scored four runs in the inning for the win. Carlos Herrera hit a solo home run earlier in the inning to help set the stage for the game-winning score.
Herrera hit a two-run double in the second inning and Luis Castro hit a solo home run in the third to give the JetHawks a 3-0 lead. The Ports came back to take the lead in the fourth inning when they put up five runs, including a two-run double by Hunter Hargrove.

River Cats 3
SACRAMENTO (AP) — Matt Reynolds homered and doubled, scoring three runs as the Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Sacramento River Cats 7-3 on Tuesday.
Jacob Wilson homered and singled twice with three RBIs for Fresno.
Down 4-2 in the sixth, Sacramento cut into the lead when Levi Michael hit a solo home run.
The Grizzlies added to their lead in the eighth inning when Wilson hit a two-run home run.
The Grizzlies tacked on another run in the ninth when Chris Dominguez hit an RBI double, bringing home Reynolds.
Fresno right-hander Kyle McGowin (3-2) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings. Opposing starter Yoanys Quiala (0-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after allowing four runs and eight hits over six innings.
