Cowboys score five pick-6s in blowout of Central Valley Lions

The Manteca Cowboys varsity scored five touchdowns on interceptions in a 53-6 shellacking of the Central Valley Lions in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer junior varsity action.

Nikko Juarez returned two interceptions for Manteca touchdowns with Julian Ramirez, Tyler Pettis and Ricky Soria each adding a touchdown on an interception return. Juarez added a 5-yard touchdown run and Mehtaab Bhangu threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Gabriel Lopez.

Damien Delgadillo and Dean Sortonis each had six tackles for the Cowboys.

 

Junior varsity

Cowboys 19, Lions 13

Terrance Montgomery ran two kickoffs back for the Manteca, one in the fourth quarter to break a tie and give Manteca a 19-13 win.

Montgomery’s first kickoff return was in the first quarter and tied the game at 6-6. His 77-yarder in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the game. Daniel Bass scored the other Manteca touchdown when he picked up a fumble that was forced by Adrian Sena and returned it 48 yards for the score.

Adrian Sena led the Copwboys defense with nine tackles. Logan Yagi (fumble recovery) and Jonathan Morales added eight stops apiece, Montgomery (interception) seven, D.J. Bass, Antonio Sanchez, Giovanni Perry, Landon Sanders and Elijah Abadon six apiece; Erian Johnson Jr. (forced fumble), Bryan Lewis and Caden Miller five each; Malriq De La Rosa, Louis James Madrid and Bryan Lewis four apiece and Elias Lopes three.

 

Manteca Jr. Buffaloes 32, Tracy Buccaneers 7

Brody Carabello totaled nearly 200 yards and scored five touchdowns for the Jr. Buffaloes.

Carabello (18 carries, 138 yards; 42 yards passing) scored on runs of 5, 10, 12, 13 and 26 yards. Leiland Riggelman added 72 yards on 12 carries and Brixton Ortiz picked up 48 yards on nine carries.

Brixton Ortiz (forced fumble) led the Manteca defense with six and a forced fumble. Riggelman added five stops, Santino Sanchez and Carabello had four tackles each and Logan Qualls three. Gabriel Gonzalez made and interception and a fumble recovery with Bode Hiatt, Jesse Garibay and Austin Dundas all contributing on defense.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 14, Lions 13

Brady Davis scored a pair of touchdowns for the Cowboys.

Brady Davis (eight carries, 76 yards) scored on runs of 8 and 26 yards. Joseph Bella addeade d eight carries for 46 yards and Ka'Mari Wynne totaled 34 yards on eight carries. Alfonso Cortez-Ruiz also contributed to the offense.

Manteca’s Brady Davis made three tackles and an interception. Christopher Hernandez recovered two fumbles with A.J. Cortez-Ruiz, Wynne and Joseph Bella all contributing on defense.

Lions 19, Cowboys 12

Mateo Gavino and Emilio Covarrubias each scored a touchdown for Manteca.

Gavino gained 111 yards on eight carries and Bailey Ybarra picked up 56 yards on six carries.

Gavino and Keyth Hart Jr. made eight tackles apiece. Jayden Ontai added six stops, Adran Agtrap five and Sebastian Leon four with an interception.
