Dodgers topple As in Northgate action

The Dodgers relied on five runs in the first inning to take control of the game against the Yankees to eventually claim a 19-6 minor division victory in Northgate Little League play.

In the third inning the Dodgers scored another eight runs. The Yankees came alive in the bottom of the third and sent six runners across the plate.

There were some solid defensive plays in the contest. Dodgers second baseman Harrison Heath assisted on an out to first baseman Matthew Pilkay. Tim Couch caught a fly ball at shortstop.  And Jaime Suarez ended the game with a fly ball catch in left field.   

The Yankees made some good plays as well with third baseman Eddie Tercero making an unassisted out at third base.  There was a fly ball catch by second baseman Payton Reinke while shortstop Daniel Ruiz assisted on an out to first baseman, Dylan Hodges.  

Leading hitters for the winning team were River Fletcher with a single and three RBIs,  Harrison Heath with two singles and one RBI, Ryan Zavala with three singles and three RBI’s, Matthew Pilkay with a single and a pair of RBIs, and Braydon Goodnoff with a double and two RBIs.

Top hitters for the Yankees were John Loon with a triple and single for two RBIs,   Enrique Perez with a single and an RBI, and Dylan Hodges with a triple and an RBI.

Ryan Zavala delivered two strikeouts in the first three innings for the win. Dodger hurler Tyler Soulier and two assisred strikeouts and four  assisted outs in the last three innings.
