Knights sweep Chiefs in first all-Ripon youth showdown

In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, the Ripon Knights varsity blanked the Ripon Chiefs 30-0 on Saturday night at Stouffer Field in a Trans-Valley Youth Football League contest dubbed the inaugural Main Street Bowl.

The Knights’ Stadtler Postma had a 1-yard scoring plunge and was 8 of 14 passing for 131 yards with a 22-yard scoring pass to Max Abrew. Joshue Gonzalez ran for 34 yards with a 10-yard touchdown run, Xavier Powell posted 35 rushing yards and Chris Alfaro added 31 yards on the ground. Hudson Schenk had a 45-yard reception and Tallon Tameling made three catches for 44 yards.

Xavier Powell returned an interception 95 yards for a Knights touchdown. Gonzalez made seven tackles, Joe Wallace five and Jax Booth four. Tyler Van Elderen, Ryder Shelton, and Zander Rivera all contributed on defense.

 

Junior varsity

Knights 32, Chiefs 0

Jesse Vega scored two touchdowns for the Chiefs.

Vega tallied 60 rushing yards with touchdown runs of 18 and 20 yards. Johnathan Postma (64 yards rushing) and Mason Dodson each had a 1-yard touchdown run. Travis Maltes added 71 yards rushing and Ayden John ran for 22 yards.

Nathan Fletcher notched a safety and Jack Schaapman made two fumble recoveries and along with Tyce Sanchez all three made five tackles apiece. Hudson Anthony added four stops, Max Neto three, Rocky Gonzales a fumble recovery and Jessy Vega had an interception.

 

Novice

Knights 46, Chiefs 7

Tyce Thompson tallied five touchdowns for the Knights.

Thompson had six carries for 111 yards and three touchdown runs, caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Owen Degenstein and he returned kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.

Hudson Postma (six carries, 153 yards) ran for a 37-yard touchdown and Daniel Teicheira (seven carries, 34 yards) punched in a 2-yard touchdown run.

Seventeen Knights made tackles. Brayden Camara (10 tackles) recovered three onside kicks, Chase Rubenaker made 10 tackles, Adrien Anaya nine, Shooter Bruns eight, Austin Stirrat (two interceptions) seven, Eli Perez five and Caleb Thoming (forced fumble) three.

 

Jr. Novice

Knights 39, Chiefs 6

The Knights’ Mearl Thompson and Nikolai Gorbunoff set the stage on the game’s first play with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Thompson to Gorbunoff.

Gorbunoff (105 yards rushing) added a 7-yard touchdown run, Lucas Durao (99 yards rushing) posted touchdown runs of 41 and 58 yards and Eli Browne (65 yards rushing) and Jaxson Quilantang each had a 10-yard touchdown run. Cohen Vermulen, Jaxon Muschott and Colton Wegner all contributed to the Knights offense.

Durao led the Knights defense with 13 tackles. Quilantang added six stops, Gorbunoff five,

Chase Johnson four, Mearl Thompson three and Aiden John two with a fumble recovery. Colton Wegner, Jackson Rubio, Logan Stirrat, Luke Hernandez and Parker Jones all contributed to the Knights defense.
