Lathrop Lions stomp Jr. Eagles for first win

The Lathrop Lions won their first-ever contest at the Midgets Division this past Sunday, throttling the West Coast Jr. Eagles of Stockton 36-0 at Lathrop High.

The Peewees and Cadets, meanwhile, are still perfect in the NorCal Youth Football Alliance. The Jr. Peewees fell to 1-2 after a 12-6 defeat.

Quarterback Jason King had a hand in three touchdown plays in the Midget contest, scoring twice on the run and throwing for another. Miguel Sequeira added a TD on the ground and one through the air.

Daniel Lesley was on the receiving end of the biggest play from scrimmage, a 75-yard catch-and-run touchdown. Steven Johnson also hauled in a touchdown, while JoJo Kissoon rushed for one.

Up next is the Bay Area Spartans at Lathrop High this Saturday. The Tiny Mites kick off action at 8 a.m.

Peewee

Lions 28, Jr. Eagles 0

Lathrop registered its second shutout of the season.

Norteno Moreno was in on two big scoring plays — a 55-yard scamper and a 69-yard catch-and-run. Kyle Lynch scored on a 10-yard rush and added the two-point conversion. Raylene Carter-Belvine contributed an electric 48-yard TD run. Quarterback Tyrone Vickers passed for 104 yards and completed five of nine attempts.

The Lions will encounter a Bay Area Spartans team out of Oakland that is also 3-0 on the season.

Cadets

Lions 36, Jr. Eagles 0

Aaron Vickers and Zelmar Vedder each hit pay dirt twice as the Lions rolled to an emphatic win. Elijah Dunn and Jamari Wayne each added a touchdown.

DELTA REBELS

Jr. Novice

The Rebels were dealt a 45-6 defeat by the Delta Patriots.

Eric Swords completed five of 12 passes for 66 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown to David Juarez.
