The Big Valley Sabres junior varsity downed the Ripon Knights 12-6 Saturday in Trans-Valley Youth Football League action at Ripon Christian High School.
Robbie Nieweg threw for one Knights touchdown pass.
Nieweg (67 yards passing, 25 yards rushing) hit Hudson Postma with a 20-yard touchdown pass. Tyce Thompson tallied 66 all-purpose yards with Jharon Jackson, Keagan Heuvel, Tristan O’Brien, Tyce Thompson and Jacob Petersen all contributing to the Ripon offense.
Shooter Bruns paced the Knights defense with 10 tackles. Eli Perez (forced fumble) and Adrien Anaya each made nine tackles and recovered a fumble, Brayden Camara tallied eight stops with three apiece for Jase Blanco, Clint Sawyer and David Wegner. Caleb Thoming, Jharon Jackson, Braxton Flora, Robert Fletcher, Daniel Teicheira and Brenden Macias all contributed to the Ripon defense.
Novice

Ripon’s Nikolai Gorbunoff ran for a 60-yard touchdown on the first play of the game.
Lucas Durao (68 yards on seven carries) ran for a 42-yard touchdown and returned an interception 62 yards for another. Gorbunoff finished with 74 yards on four carries and Aiden John contributed to the offense.
The Knights overcame having four touchdowns called back due to penalties and had great blocking from Nathaniel Grimaldo, Levi Reeder, Logan Stirrat, Jaxson Quilantang, Makaio Jackson, Elijah Hernandez, and Cohen Vermulen.
Sixteen Ripon players had tackles with Nikolai Gorbunoff making eight stops, John six with five apiece for Durao, Chase Johnson and Eli Browne and four for Damyn Gonzales.

In a game played Saturday, Sept. 6, Durao and Eli Browne combined for more than 150 yards on the ground.
Durao (nine carries, 88 yards) scored on a 2-yard run, Browne (six carries, 73 yards) scored from 51 yards out, Mearl Thompson (5 of 6 passing, 30 yards) hit Browne with an 8-yard scoring pass. Johnson also contributed to the offense.
Johnson made 10 tackles, John five, Durao (interception) three and Jaxson Quilantang contributed to the defense.

Ripon’s Gil Rangel gained 100 yards on eight carries.
Ben Holfman (64 yards) and Mack Ward (45 yards) each carried the ball six times for the Knights and Grayson Campbell contributed to the offense.
Holfman and Nicolas Rangel led the Knights with seven tackles apiece. Gil Rangel added four stops, Gunnar Gorbunoff three with Mack Ward, with Dane Van Horn, Grayson Campbell, Walter DeJong, Hudson Browne and Nico Pentoja all contributing to the defense.

Lathrop’s Logan Martinez scored four touchdowns.
Martinez (four catches, 125yd) ran in a score from 12 yards out and pulled in touchdown passes of 26, 38 and 41 yards from Jackson Guardiola (4 for 4 passing, 128 yards).
Martinez and Manuel Lupercio made 10 tackles each, Carlos Rivera and Kennith Certuche nine stops each with eight for Johnny Silivas and seven for Dermarcos Barajas.
Manteca Cowboys 7, Lodi Jr. Flames 6
Manteca’s Mateo Salcido scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Salcido gained 122 yards on 22 carries. Jackson Coenenberg, Aiden Howe and Noah Cedano contributed to the offense.
Noah Cedano posted five tackles, Nico Rangel and Paul Hayter four apiece with three apiece for Mateo Montez (forced fumble), Howe and Naca Bluehorse. Ernesto Cruz (fumble recovery), Jack Benedetti, Chad Lombardo, Mateo Ramirez and Noah Franco all contributed to the Cowboys defense.

Lathrop’s Jordan Romo and Domonic Ramos combined for two touchdowns and nearly 150 rushing yards.
Romo gained 75 yards on six carries with a 16-yard touchdown run and Ramos tallied 73 yards and scored from 10 yards out.
Claudio Reviera made six tackles and two interceptions, returning one 48 yards for a Spartans touchdown. Moses Ramirez-Hernandez (fumble recovery, interception) and Isaiah Carrasco (forced fumble) each made six tackles.

Manteca’s German Patron made an interception and returned an interception 70 yads for a touchdown.
Jaden Grimal scored two rushing touchdowns for the Cowboys.
A.J. Aguirre and Ruben Cedano contributed to the Manteca offense.
Aguirre made eight tackles, Cedano four, Ronald Ruelas (interception) and Ivan Torres three and Grimal contributed to the defense.
