Rogers, Hilliard lead the way for Lancaster

LANCASTER (AP) — Wes Rogers doubled twice and singled, driving in three runs and scoring a pair as the Lancaster JetHawks topped the Stockton Ports 12-10 on Monday. With the victory, the JetHawks swept the four-game series.

Sam Hilliard doubled and singled with two runs for Lancaster.

Alexander Guillen got Chris Iriart to fly out with runners on first and third to end the game for his third save of the season.

With the game tied 1-1 in the fourth, Stockton took the lead when Iriart hit a solo home run.

Lancaster answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs to take the lead for good.

Mylz Jones hit a two-run home run and Scott Burcham hit a solo home run en route to the three-run lead.

The JetHawks later added three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth. In the fifth, Hilliard and Brian Mundell hit RBI singles, while Rogers hit a two-run double in the sixth.

Stockton saw its comeback attempt come up short after Mikey White hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to help cut the Lancaster lead to 12-10.

Lancaster right-hander Peter Lambert (2-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Evan Manarino (2-2) took the loss in the California League game after a rough outing in which he allowed eight runs and nine hits over four innings.

Several Ports chipped in at the plate, as five players had at least a pair of hits. Iriart homered and singled twice, scoring two runs. The Ports also hit a season-high four home runs.

With the win, Lancaster improved to 6-2 against Stockton this season.
