Cowboys corral Outlaws in CYF season opener

Jacorey Franklin and Everett Sangalang scored three touchdowns apiece Saturday to lead the Manteca Cowboys varsity to a 57-0 thumping of the Central Valley Outlaws in Northern California Youth Football and Cheer action at the Riverbank Sports Complex. 

Franklin had eight carries for 128 yards with touchdown runs of 17 and 25 yards and an 11-yard touchdown reception. Sangalang scored on all three of his carries from 11, 16 and 40 yards out for a total of 63 rushing yards. Keona Coyode added a 65-yard touchdown scamper. 

Franklin made four tackles, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass while Sangalang and Ryan Torres made three tackles apiece. 

 

Junior varsity

Ace Avelar had a pair of touchdown runs and a 100-yard rushing day to pace the Cowboys.

Avelar had seven carries for 143 yards with 10- and 20-yard touchdown runs. Dylan Lee (seven carries, 53 yards) scored on a 6-yard run; Joey Lopez (four carries, 70 yards) added a 50-yard touchdown run and Angel Ramirez (four carries, 40 yards) had a 20-yard touchdown run. 

Ramirez had five tackles and Rafael Espinoza made three stops and an interception. 

 

Rookies

Bryson Davis shredded the Outlaws defense with 142 yards rushing and touchdown runs of 1 yard, 18, 25, 30 and 38 yards.

Anthony Morales had 46 yards passing with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Blake Mount. Robbie Espinosa added 92 yards rushing and Omar Diaz had 30 yards on the ground.

Isaac Alvarez led the Cowboys defense with five tackles and a sack. Mount (fumble recovery), 

Bryson Davis (interception), Jeremy Ap’e and Christopher Rosales made three tackles each and Eliseo Lopez had an interception.

Jonathan Constance had 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Cowboys.

Jacob Paris (five carries, 94 yards) added two touchdowns and Shane Foreman (three carries, 79 yards) scored one. Julian Ramirez had 96 yards on four carries and Mario Quezada had 12 yards rushing.  

Elias Lopez and Paris made four tackles apiece and Foreman and Antonio Sanchez had two stops each.
