Palacios scores 4 TDs in drubbing of Redskins

Henry Palacios ran wild Saturday with four touchdowns to lead the Manteca Cowboys varsity past the Patterson Redskins 40-6 in Cen-Cal action at East Union’s Dino Cunial Field.

Palacios totaled 110 yards with scoring runs of 49 and 56 yards, a touchdown reception of 22 yards from Dennis Crum and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Crum added an 11-yard touchdown pass to Donnie Barclift and a 28-yard touchdown run.

Andrew Lopez paced the Manteca defense with five tackles. Palacios, Crum, Carlos Alvarez and Marcus Brennen each had four stops with Tony Burgos recovering a fumble.

Junior Varsity

Cowboys 45, Redskins 0

Keona Cayode made his four carries for the Cowboys count, racking up 183 yards with three touchdowns.

Dominic Kempf, Jamari Hodge and Christian Ray each ran for a score and Jason Aucello had a touchdown pass.

Xavier Mendez had seven tackles for Manteca, Alex Ramirez five and Christian Ray, Benjamin Grisham and Frank Beltran had four tackles apiece.

Rookies

Cowboys 35, Redskins 0

Six Cowboys scored in a balanced attack.

Izayah Houston had a 45-yard touchdown run, Anthony Avelar one of 28 yards, Joey Lopez a 20-yard scoring run, Bryson Davis a 15-yard touchdown run, Gabriel Flores one of 8 yards and Landon Butler a 30-yard touchdown reception.

Avelar (fumble recovery), Isaac Alvarez and Donovan Jones each had four stops, Ivan Alvarez and Joshua Alexander three apiece and Omar Diaz two.

Anthony Morales threw for two touchdowns and ran for one for the Cowboys.

Morales was 5 of 7 passing for 100 yards and scored on a 9-yard touchdown run. Nate Cedolini had 104 yards.on four carries with a rushing touchdown and a 68-yard touchdown catch, Robbie Espinosa had 81yards on five carries with a touchdown throw and catch, and Christopher Gallego added a rushing touchdown.

Jacob Parris led the Manteca defense with eight tackles, Gallego had seven, Cedolini four and Robbie Espinosa three with an interception.

Junior varsity

Jr. T’wolves 44, Jr. Cougars 7

Marcelo Morales scored three touchdowns on the ground, one in the air and one on a kickoff return for the Junior Timberwolves at Dino Cunial Field on Sunday.

Morales had five carries for 160 yards with touchdown runs of 40, 47 and 58 yards. Morales had two receptions for 55 yards including a touchdown throw from Luke Weaver for 53 yards and a 60-yard kickoff return for a score. Weaver added a 1-yard touchdown run.

Alijah Cota (forced fumble) had nine tackles for Manteca. Alonzo Drew (interception) and Gustavo Delgadillo added five stops apiece.

Junior novice

Jr. Cougars 35, Jr. Timberwolves 0

The Jr. Timberwolves held the Jr. Cougars to two first-half touchdowns before Weston Ranch pulled away in the second half.

Julian Moncada led the Manteca defense with 13 tackles. Albert Menchaca added 11 stops, Owen Gully (fumble recovery) six, Gilbert Luiz II five and Robert Gaston four.

Novice

Ripon Knights 41, Westside Niners 0

Hunter Steele and Preston Zuidervaart combined for 150 yards and four touchdowns for the Knights. Steele had four carries for 85 yards with touchdown runs of 13 and 35 yards. Zuidervaart added 78 yards on 16 carries and scored from 2 and 10 yards out. Carson Sanders had 17 carries on 65 with a 1-yard scoring plunge and Anden Ries scored from 1 yard out, gaining 22 yards on four carries.

Jace Beidleman completed two of three passes for 47 yards – one to Rey Galindo for 13 yards and one to Andrew Mensonides for 34 yards.

Jacob Camper led the Ripon defense with seven tackles followed by Mensonides (two forced fumbles, fumble recovery) with six and Owen Wilbur (interception), Ries and Carson Sanders four apiece.

Zuidervaart (fumble recovery), Jace Beidleman, Mario Garcia, Rey Galindo, Carson Bunnell and Brody Nail all contributed on defense for the Knights.
