40 years ago: March 29, 1978 – Manteca High’s baseball team was knocked out of competition in the Gus Gallagher Tournament in Stockton with their 5-1 loss to Tracy High last Thursday in first round of consolation action. The Buffaloes’ lack of hitting continued, collecting only three hits with no more than one in any frame. Second baseman Rick Hogan delivered a run-scoring double in the third inning for Manteca’s lone run of the evening.
