LHS GOLF TOURNEY: The 3rd Annual Spartan Open, hosted by the Lathrop High baseball team, is being held at Old River Golf Course in Tracy on Sept. 27. Cost is $80 per person and $320 per foursome, though a discount of $40 per team is offered for fees turned in by Sept. 12. Entry cost includes green fees, snacks on the course, lunch and non-alcoholic beverages. The four-man scramble tournament also features raffles, prizes and a closest-the-pin contest on hole 5. WR GOLF TOURNEY: The Weston Ranch High basketball and volleyball programs are putting on its second Cougar Golf Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Oak Moore Golf Course. The tournament tees off at 8 a.m. Cost is $65 per person or $260 per team. Entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, continental breakfast, lunch and beverages. The event will include raffles and prizes. Tournament winners will have their entry fees returned. The format is a best-ball scramble. LHS CASINO TRIP: The Lathrop High wrestling program is hosting a fundraising event to be held at Black Oak Casino on Sunday, Sept. 28. Cost to enter is $35. Cost covers round-trip bus fair, $10 for free slot play, $5 for free match play and $5 for food. Participants will ride a bus to and from the casino. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS TICKETS: Manteca High fans who purchased tickets through Ticket Master for the originally-scheduled Aug. 29 Levi’s Stadium Friday Night Lights event are encouraged to exchange them before the Oct. 7 deadline. The school’s football team will still get to play at Levi’s Stadium on Oct. 11, when it will square off with Valley Oak League rival Oakdale. Tickets for the rescheduled event are now available for purchase or exchange at the MHS administration office Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket sales and exchanges end on Oct. 7. MJC COMBINE: The Modesto Junior College men’s basketball team is hosting its Valley Elite combine Oct. 4 for players in grades 6-12. PUMPKIN RUN: The Manteca Unified Student Trust is holding its Faustina Rosas Memorial Pumpkin run on Oct. 4. Registration begins at 7 a.m., the mile run is at 8 a.m., 5-kilometer run is at 8:30 a.m. and awards ceremony at 10 a.m. Races begon in Downtown Manteca on the corner of Elm Ave. and North St. Entry fees are as follows: $20 for single-race pre-registration, $70 for single-race family pre-registration, $25 for single-race the day of the event and an additional $5 per person to run in both. PACIFIC COAST TRYOUTS: Three important dates are on the docket for the fledgling Pacific Coast Volleyball Club. First is a parent informational meeting Saturday, Oct. 25 from 2:30-4 p.m. at Ripon Christian School. The club will have tryouts to fill rosters for seven age divisions (12s-18s) on Sunday, Nov. 2 at Stockton Indoor Sports Complex (3251 Ad Art Road, Stockton). All players must be registered with the Northern California Volleyball Association prior to trying out. A parent or legal guardian must be present throughout the tryout, and players are required to check in 30 minutes prior to their tryout times. Cost to try out is $20. The club is then holding a commitment night Monday, Nov. 10 starting 6:30 at Stockton Indoor Sports Complex.
