STOCKTON – The Volkswagen Jetta has finally come of age.
The 2011 model has matured, according to the www.RoadandTrack.com. It’s gone from being described as “dorky-looking” when first launched in 1979 to “the handsome body that kicks Jetta’s image upstairs a few steps.”

In terms of appearance, the Jetta is a sleek-looking family compact sedan.
Under the hood is a 2.5 liter 5-cylinder engine with a boost of 170 horsepower, and claims of 0-to-60-mph acceleration times of 9.8 seconds.
Fuel economy for the S engine is estimated at 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway for the manual version, and 23/32 for the automatic.
A 140 hp 2.0 turbo diesel injection engine is also available for the economy minded.
The Jetta is front-wheel driven with antilock brakes, electronic stability control and electronic differential lock.
Among the safety features include front and passenger airbags, side curtain protective airbags, three-point safety belts, and child-lock brakes.
