The third $100 Manteca Bulletin Easter Egg was found in a bush and behind a sign at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley.
The egg was discovered by Lisa Gomez, 42, using clues that appeared on the Easter ad in the weekend edition of the Bulletin.
“She was like, Oh, my god! I found it,’ ” said her daughter Briana Soto, 14, who redeemed the egg on Thursday. “She looked so happy.”
The find ended a weeks-long hunt by Gomez, who had hoped to find one of the first two eggs. Soto said her mother began searching for the egg shortly after her husband returned home with the paper at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.
“I told her, ‘You’re going to go crazy,’ ” Soto said.
The clues Gomez used were:
• He authored the GI Bill of Rights. A reference to Warren Atherton, the grandfather of developer Mike Atherton.
• It’s a sign: The almonds are gone. The sign – and the shops – are located where an almond orchard used to be.
• Is that a robin to the north? A nod to Red Robin’s restaurant, located in The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley.
There are two $100 eggs left. The clues for the next egg will appear in Saturday’s paper.
