A number of checks written for five events and seven classes taking place at the Manteca Senior Center were stolen during a break-in at the city facility earlier this month.
Other items taken were Community Development Block Grant eligibility forms with the first and last names. address, household income and the number of people living at each residence. Also stolen were receipt books and items connected to bingo games and the county lunch program.
The senior center staff issued letters to center patrons on Monday, April 10, after the Friday night burglary apprising them of the situation. They also provided information on how to contact the three major credit bureaus.
In addition they advised those that had written checks for the following events to call their banks and to have payment stopped:
uPaint Night at the Center on April 10: Any checks written on or before April 7.
uGlitz & Glamour on March 31: All vendor checks that were written.
uSpaghetti dinner on April 17: Any check written on or before April 7.
uSpring Center Spring Tea on April 30. Any check written on or before April 7.
uMad Hatter Tea Party (Mother-Daughter Tea) on May 7: Any check written before or after April 7.
On the April 30 and May 7 those having to cancel checks are advised to contact Senior Center Recreation Supervisor Brandy Clark at 209.456.8623 with their ticket numbers so they can verify your attendance.
uSenior center classes for tai chi, card making supplies, cardio & sculpt, photography, Moovin’ and Groovin’, and drawing classes: Any check written between April 5 and April 7.
Senior center staff is in the process of reviewing office policies and procedures to take steps to enhance security measures to avoid a reoccurrence.
