Sid Reams, 66, has been arrested on charges relating to alleged sexual misconduct.
Manteca Police arrested Reams Wednesday at 4 p.m. after he voluntarily went to the police station for an interview. The arrest followed a long-term investigation launched by Manteca detectives in early March into allegations of sexual abuse involving a dependent adult.  The complex nature of the investigation is why it took nearly two months to complete. The San Joaquin County Adult Protective Services and the San Joaquin County Child Advocacy Center provided vital assistance during the investigation.
The investigation showed that there were alleged episodes of sexual abuse from 2007 to 2009 with a single victim.
Reams was arrested on a warrant signed by a San Joaquin Superior Court judge.  He was booked into the Manteca City Jail on charges of molestation of a dependent adult as well as penetration with a foreign object. Reams was later transferred to the San Joaquin County Jail where he is being held on a $150,000 bail.
Police have indicated the investigation is still ongoing.
Reams has been an occasional part-time guest columnist for the Manteca Bulletin. The licensed real estate agent made two unsuccessful runs for the Manteca City Council.
Reams has been a high-profile community activist concentrating on the needs of the homeless and the less fortunate.
He gained a high profile in the community for the weekly cable access TV show “Manteca Magazine” that he produced and anchored for a number of years on Comcast.
