RIPON — A Ripon home burglary suspect apparently didn’t give the small town’s detectives credit in being able to track him to his Turlock home where he was taken into custody.

Eduardo Cerna, 30, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail Thursday on a felony burglary charge, according to Ripon Police spokesman First Sergeant Steve Merchant.

Merchant said a daytime residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, May 23, in the 1300 block of East Milgeo Avenue.  Taken were a Remington shotgun, jewelry and an Aspire laptop computer.

The officer said an alert citizen provided police with information regarding a suspicious vehicle and a suspect that was seen in the area at the time of the burglary.  Ripon detectives developed suspect information and staked out the man’s residence in Turlock.

Merchant said a major piece of the evidence in the case was developed from digital images that were made available to the officers.  He added that due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Ripon police are not divulging the source of those images.

Cerna is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail in county jail and is expected to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court on Monday June 4.
