A dispute over noise may have led to the shooting death of a Lathrop man early Sunday morning.

Lathrop deputies are looking for a suspect in the shooting that occurred just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Shadywood Avenue in Lathrop.

The shooting took place in a home where rooms are rented out.  Neighbors said at least seven people were living in the house at the time of the shooting.

The man who was killed had been living in the house for days.

Another roommate told investigators that he heard a shot and ran to one of the upstairs bedrooms. There he found the victim with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Deputies say the suspect is a roommate. The victim was pounced dead at an area hospital.

Neighbors said that prior to the shooting he saw and heard the man who was killed out in front of the home revving his car’s engine.

Names of the victim or suspect have not been released.
