For more than 25 years, Acro Energy has been delivering solar power to environmentally-friendly Californians.

The company has installed over 2,000 solar power systems for residential, commercial and agriculture use, thus, saving money by harnessing the power of the sun.

Donna Taylor is hoping that Manteca High can someday go green by using this renewable energy.

The Earth Club advisor brought in consultant Thomas Will of Acro Energy Technology, Inc. of Oakdale as the guest speaker at Friday’s meeting.

Nearly 20 Earth Club members attended the session held in the MHS Brasmer Library.

“Our goal is to get solar panels for the school so we can better monitor the energy,” Taylor said.

Will, meanwhile, noted that only 5 percent of the homeowners have been able to afford to solar energy. But that could change soon based on the current tax breaks and rebates.

“The big goal is to make solar energy affordable,” he said.

Those hooked up to solar energy continue to receive credits on their power bills.

These days, solar panels no longer resemble, as Will puts it, that “space ship on top of the roof.”

Solar panels are less obstructed and better efficient, according to Will.

“(Solar) is the most abundant renewable energy on the planet,” he said.

Will added that today’s students are the next generation promoting green.
“You can make the difference,” he said.
