Shasta Elementary School was locked down Wednesday morning when police were chasing Alonzo Fabian Talavera, 25, of Manteca who was reportedly running from Manteca Police officers near the Edison Street campus.

Sgt. Jodie Estarziau said Talavera was identified as a suspect in an earlier domestic violence incident in the 1600 block of Star Tulip Street. She said witnesses reported seeing him near the school acting like he was under the influence as he attempted to evade officers by jumping fences. 

Estarziau said he was being charged for alleged assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp and released from custody on Thursday.
