On Sunday, Sept. 20, at around 11:30 p.m. San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Lathrop Police Services deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit after attempting to conduct a vehicle stop on a black Chevrolet Blazer for driving under the influence in the 100 block of E. Roth Road. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to deputies and fled traveling eastbound on Roth Road reaching speeds of approximately 70 mph, and driving all over the road.

The vehicle traveled northbound on McKinley Avenue in French Camp to about 100 mph, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over multiple times ejecting the driver, and trapping three passengers inside. The driver and one male and one female were pronounced deceased on the scene, and one female was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

A protocol investigation has been evoked. The investigation is being handled by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Investigation Units, and the CHP’s MAIT. The names of the occupants are pending positive identification and notification to the next of kin.
