The challenge is on.

The 10th Annual Give Every Child A Chance Antone E. Raymus Bowl-A-Thon will be held Saturday, February 28. Thanks to Marie Raymus,  the Manteca Bowl and Family Fun Center will host this event, supplying all 48 lanes (from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.), shoes, and staff to insure the success of the bowl-a-thon, all at no charge to Give Every Child A Chance.

The proceeds help provide free tutoring services to more than 2,000 struggling students each year.

“This year is proving to be our most exciting year,” said GECAC chief executive officer Carol Davis.  “Lanes are filling up fast, and the excitement of businesses challenging businesses is increasing enthusiasm throughout the communities. The children at the elementary schools are excited about the possibility of winning a Wii, and have been working hard to collect their pledges.”

Quick facts about the bowl-a-thon include:

• 5 players per team.

• Minimum $250 per team.

• Two games of bowling, T-shirt, rental of shoes and drink included.

• Challenges are encouraged: business vs. business, family vs. family, adults vs. children, etc.

• Individual youth bowlers that collect the most pledges can earn extra prizes with the top three winning a pass to Boomers.
