Give Every Child a Chance bowl-a-thon set for Feb. 28

The Give Every Child a Chance (GECAC) Antone E. Raymus, 16th Annual Bowl-A-Thon takes place Saturday, Feb. 28.

 Marie Raymus, in partnership with GECAC, is hosting the event by donating the use of the Manteca Bowl and Family Fun Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  This includes 36 lanes, bowling shoes, a soft drink for each participant, and staff to ensure the success of the Bowl-A-Thon; all at no charge to GECAC.

GECAC is encouraging businesses to challenge their competitors in a two-game competition. It’s am opporunity to challenge other business for bragging rights and a chance to be the grand prize winner in categories such as Health Care, Government, Service Agency Organization, Retail, Service/Community Club, School, Retail, House of Worship, Bank, and Youth Group, and After School Advantage Program.

There are also top prizes for overall highest collecting top youth team, overall top three individual students, and prizes for individual youth collectors. The youth who collects the most money over $500 will receive their choice of one of the following prizes; GoPro HERO3 (white edition), VIZIO 24” E-Series LED Smart TV, Beats by Dre Pill 2.0, Apple iPod Touch 32 GB (5th generation).  In addition, the school that collects the most pledges (minimum of $1,000) will receive $500 school shopping spree.

The minimum entry fee for a team (5 bowlers) is $250. Each team member receives: two games of bowling, a T-shirt, shoe rental, and one soft drink.  Bowling times you can select from are 8 a.m., 10:15 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.

Manteca scored three times each with two outs on Friday while getting gutsy pitching efforts from Cameron Jimenez and Jimmy Burns in a 3-1 win over visiting Oakdale that has the Buffaloes leading the pack in a heated race for the Valley Oak League title.
