Jeff “JB” Burkhardt made a big impression on his fellow municipal workers as well as those he served along his refuse collection route.

His untimely death earlier this year hit those who knew him hard - especially his fellow City of Manteca refuse collection workers.

In a bid to make sure that Burkhardt’s memory and good works live on they have established a fund to help non-profits with annual presentations in his honor and memory to carry on his spirit. The first $1,000 went to the Boys & Girls Club.

His fellow employees are now organizing the Jeff “JB” Burkhardt Memorial Golf Tournament taking place Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Manteca Golf Course.

The entry fee is $100 with check-in from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. followed by tee-off at 8 a.m. The four-man scramble will include tee prizes, closest to the pin, longest drive and raffles.

The tournament is being sponsored by Crystal Downs of State F arm Insurance.
