A single story residence in the 700 block of Morada Court sustained more than $102,000 in losses last Saturday when fire ravaged the garage and attic over the living area where heavy black smoke was seen coming from the attic vents on all sides of the structure.

Morada Court is four blocks south of Louise Avenue and just west of the Tidewater Bikeway.

Battalion Chief Dave Marques said occupants of the home met responding firefighters telling them everyone was out of the house.

Marquez said the investigation revealed the fire started in the garage and spread to the attic.  Seven occupants were displaced due to the fire and the American Red Cross found accommodations for them at an area hotel.  The cause and contributing factors are under investigation.
